Following the announcement of a new Supernovae in Messier 101, the Pinwheel Galaxy, I briefly tried to capture this last night, Saturday 27th August.
The AP gods where definately against me last night, M101 was very low in the murk to the north at about midnight, I had been messing around with my OAG, and couldn’t get a guidestar and keep M101 in the frame. Â Anyway, took a few unguided images at f10 with the 12″ LX200R. Â Apologies for the poor image quality (elongated stars), but at least you can see the Supernovae.
That’s been three excellent novae this summer, I wonder if there’ll be anymore.
