NASA SDO – Strong Solar Flare 1st May 2013

Date

This video was captured by the NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO).  This solar flare exploded at 17:30 UT on the 3rd of May.  This is the second time in three days that this same farside active region has unleashed a strong flare. The sun’s rotation is carrying the sunspot towards the near side of the sun compared to earth, emerging into full view from Earth during this weekend.
