Milky Way in Cygnus

Date

This represents a first try with the Astrotrac travel system.  Taken near Ayr on the West coast of Scotland, the weather wasn’t too brilliant and I only managed twelve usable 180 second subs, and then there was multiple problems with a bit of local light pollution causing colour gradients during processing.  Click on image to see a larger version.

Taken with a Canon D40 with a EF17-40mm f/4L USM lens at 17mm and f4.5, image is 12 x 180 second subs at  iso 800 stacked inDSS and tweaked in PS CS3.  Image represents the area around cygnus and Lyra.  The bright star in the image is Vega in Lyra, the main stars in Cygnus; Deneb, Sadr and Albireo are clearly visible as are nebulous areas such as the North American Nebula.
