This is IC1396 in Cepheus, and is a large region of ionized hydrogen gas and dust. The Elephants Trunk region is thought to be an area of star formation.
The area was imaged through a Takahashi FSQ 106EDX scope using a hydrogen alpha filter. The image was stacked from 10×600 second images from the iTelescope site at Mayhill New Mexico. The difference from imaging from this dar sky sight is the huge number of background stars picked up.

Here’s a previous image session taken from my own observatory a couple of years ago.. There’s definitely more dust detail in the new image.
