A little different from the Astronomy hobby is my other passion, eSports Sim Racing. I thought I would pop some content into this website to share what I do in the rest of my spare time.
After a major health scare in November 2022, I started to think about other hobbies I could participate in which have a technology bias, but still allow for social interaction. I’ve always been interested in both car racing and flight simulation for as long as I can remember, starting with titles such as Geoff Crammond’s Grand Prix and Grand Prix Legends. I started to look to YouTube for some inspiration, and to see what simulations are available now, when I came across two channels which have proved to be extremely influential. The first does excellent, honest, technical reviews, as well as some very immersive racing across a number of games, is Will Ford at Boosted Media , and the second is Danny Moffat, whose YouTube Channel is very inspiring.
The game, or simulation, I decided to concentrate on is Assetto Corsa Competizione, which is the official game of the World GT Championship. The game is available on multiple platforms, such as XBox and PS consoles, but it is the PC version I’ve been playing.
The game has several modes, but the main ones or Single Player where you can compete against fully customisable AI opponents in single races or Championship modes, or a multi=player mode where you can race against on-line opponents. There have been many on-line racing communities formed across the world to use this platform.
The main one I have chosen to frequent is Sim Seniors, a global community for the over 40’s who mainly race GT3 cars, but there are frequent forays into the very competitive GT4 and GTC classes as well.

I’ve linked the two hobbies by racing as the Urban-A eSports team in competitions. Through time I plan to have astronomy themed liveries on my cars, but more of that later. I’ll update this more as I go along, but please have a look around using the links below
